Pupils Volunteer at Joe’s Place
A small group of pupils from Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy in Stockton visited Joe’s Place this week, spending time volunteering and learning about the vital work the charity does to support people facing homelessness and hardship within our local community.
Learning Through Service and Compassion
During their visit, pupils:
- Listened to powerful personal stories
- Helped out where they could
- Learned about the challenges people face
- Reflected on the importance of dignity, community and kindness
Their behaviour was exemplary, showing compassion, respect and maturity throughout the day.
Catholic Social Teaching in Action
This experience strongly linked to Catholic Social Teaching, especially:
- The preferential option for the poor
- Human dignity
- Solidarity and community support
Through this visit, pupils not only learned about justice and compassion - they lived it.
We are incredibly proud of them and grateful to Joe’s Place for welcoming our young people so warmly.
