Connecting Learning to the Future at Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy in Stockton

As part of the Year 9 Skills for Success programme, delivered in partnership with Stockton‑on‑Tees Borough Council, pupils explored the exciting world of digital careers in Week 2 of the programme.

Inspiring Conversations With Industry Professionals

Students took part in a live web chat with:

  • Kurtis Lamb, Back‑End Engineer at CPP Games
  • Tomas Roberton, from Circle Cloud in Stockton, specialists in IT and cyber‑security services

Pupils heard first‑hand about roles in:

  • Software development
  • IT support
  • Cyber security
  • Cloud services

They also strengthened essential skills such as communication, teamwork, resilience, problem‑solving, leadership and oracy.

Supporting Future Pathways

Each week, the programme helps pupils:

  • Explore a range of career sectors
  • Develop transferable workplace skills
  • Build confidence speaking to real professionals
  • Grow in aspiration and self‑belief

The programme will end with a celebration event, where pupils deliver their own elevator pitches, showcasing all they have learned.
