A Spectacular Start on the Snow
Students from Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy in Stockton enjoyed an incredible week in Bormio, Italy, where they embraced skiing with enthusiasm, resilience and a brilliant team spirit. From day one, pupils showed fantastic progress - mastering the basics, building confidence and taking their first steps toward the bigger slopes.
Growing Confidence and New Challenges
As the days unfolded, pupils pushed themselves further, tackling more challenging runs and refining their control and technique. Their determination was clear to see, with both beginners and experienced skiers rising to every challenge placed before them.
A major milestone came on Day 3 when every single pupil made it onto the main slopes - a huge achievement and a true reflection of their hard work, courage and support for one another.
Fun-Filled Evenings and Lifelong Memories
The excitement didn’t end on the mountain. Pupils enjoyed a lively mix of evening activities including:
- A general knowledge quiz
- A brilliant karaoke night with some surprise star performances
- Time to relax and recharge before the next day’s skiing
These moments brought the group together, strengthening friendships and building unforgettable memories.
Slalom Success and Alpine Adventures
Midweek brought the highly anticipated slalom race. Pupils gave it their all, putting newly learned skills into action and showing just how far they had come in a short time.
Off the slopes, the group explored the beauty of Bormio — wandering its charming streets, tasting local ice cream, visiting a stunning local church and even spotting the Olympic Rings celebrating Bormio’s role in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
A Stunning Final Day in the Alps
Before their final descent, pupils enjoyed a magical stop at Bormio 3000, taking in breathtaking views from high in the Alps while warming up with hot chocolate. It was the perfect end to a week of adventure, accomplishment and awe‑inspiring scenery.
Celebrating Achievement at the Presentation Evening
The week concluded with a special celebration evening where every pupil received a certificate recognising their ski grading. Medals were awarded to the top slalom performers, capping off a week filled with progress, pride and unforgettable experiences.
A Trip to Remember
We are incredibly proud of all pupils for their effort, resilience and exceptional attitude throughout the entire trip. They represented Our Lady & St Bede beautifully - embracing challenge, supporting one another and making memories that will last a lifetime.
