A Powerful Start to an Exciting Academic Journey

Today marked an exciting milestone at Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy as we officially launched our Brilliance Club Scholars Programme with a group of enthusiastic Year 9 pupils. This inspiring initiative gives students the chance to experience university‑style learning, helping them stretch their thinking and explore advanced academic ideas.

University-Level Challenge and Support

Across two groups, 13 Year 9 pupils began their first tutorial, led by an expert tutor from Teesside University. From the very first session, pupils were encouraged to think critically, ask probing questions and engage with challenging new concepts.

Throughout the programme, pupils will:

  • Take part in a series of structured tutorials
  • Explore a fascinating academic topic in depth
  • Develop analytical, written and verbal skills
  • Complete a final university‑style assignment

It’s a unique opportunity designed to raise aspirations and nurture academic confidence.

Part of Our Lumina Programme

The Scholars Programme forms an important part of our Lumina Programme, which champions high expectations and opportunities for academic excellence. It supports our mission to develop pupils who are curious, confident and ambitious, ready to aim high in all aspects of school and future life.

An Amazing Beginning

We are incredibly proud of our new scholars and excited to see how they grow over the coming weeks. Their enthusiasm and commitment today show that this will be a transformative experience.

A brilliant start - we can’t wait to see their brilliance shine.
